Modulift turns up the heat at California’s SC&RA annual conference
This year’s Specialized Cranes & Rigging Association annual conference was located in beautiful Carlsbad, California, within the confides of the stunning La Costa Resort.
With a packed programme of exhibiting, networking and social events bundled in to a five-day event; it proved warm and inviting from both a comradeship and weather perspective. The event kicked off with a relaxed day easing in the attendees with golf, tennis tournaments and its first networking opening.
While the weather hotted up to an even 80 degrees so did the business angle on Wednesday with a host of committee meetings. With the sun going down, the Presidents Reception was delightfully located in the hotel promenade overlooking the golf course, alongside one of its many pools and outdoor bar areas. Those who attended were fairly diverse with a good range of sales and marketing opportunities with all the core industry publications in toe.
The breakfast meetings were all well received and a major hit for a positive start to each morning, one of which was presented by Scott Christopher. His presentation ‘The Levity Effect’, encouraged people and companies to ‘Lighten up”, with a daily focus on management engaging ‘Latitude’, Attitude’ and Gratitude’. His theory to great business inspired employees to display their personality and character, while having all the key skills and knowledge, yet still maintaining a sense of humour. An even balance of ability and being at ease within a pleasant environment should naturally lead to gratitude, and everyone likes a “Thank You” and so the cycle of good business turns … so a nice feel-good factor to the early sessions.
Since this occasion aims to bring together business and pleasure, the opportunity is for the wives to attend also. The Ladies Brunch provides a chance for all the ladies to get to know one another better, whether in the trade or not. La Costa Resort ran a fashion show, free prize draw, committee report and recognitions to a packed room on the Thursday morning.
Up to 750 members attended this special event with over 90 companies exhibiting at the Friday morning Product Fair. For all that exhibited and attended, they expressed that the Fair had been very successful. The Modulift stand was constantly busy with some interesting interactions and good business deals and connections to be made.
With a superb gala event on the closing night, it was wrapped up with excellent entertainment and the handing out of awards to some amazing feats of engineering and humongous crane and transport projects which were quite simply breath-taking. This concluded a very interesting, and well-planned event set in an arena of top-level professionals.
