Modulift, a manufacturer of below-the-hook equipment, has signed a lucrative agreement with Maxirig, which sees the Australian lifting and rigging gear specialist stock the UK company’s full range of standard modular spreader beams at its Victoria headquarters and throughout a distributor network.

Maxirig delivers product and expertise to a diverse range of clients in mining, construction, manufacturing, oil and gas, and other sectors across the country. It is strategically located in Breakwater, a residential and industrial suburb of Geelong, a port city to the south west of Melbourne, which is currently enjoying a construction boom.

Sarah Spivey, managing director at Modulift, said: “It is well documented that execution of our business model and growth strategy is reliant upon our diligence in choosing the right regional representatives and the extent to which we can support them as they deliver our products to their local marketplaces. In Maxirig I’m confident that we have secured a partner that can help us make significant strides in a far afield, but hugely important, market.”

Manufacturing to order and / or shipping product from the UK to Australia adds inherent complications and long lead times to the supply chain. Supported by a full inventory of standard spreader beams up to 100t in capacity, Maxirig will be able to respond quickly to heightened demand and deliver promptly to site. The range includes many different capacities, including the MOD 70H, offering up to 100t at 8.5m or 28 ft. and up to 14m or 45 ft. at a lower capacity.

“An important moment for our existing and prospective customers”

Nathan Van Berkel, general manager at Maxirig, said: “We’re excited about taking delivery of the first batch of stock, which represents an important moment for our existing and prospective customers looking for spreader beams and below-the-hook solutions for their varied applications. Modulift’s equipment is already renowned in the region but being able to offer it as an off-the-shelf rigging solution is a game-changer for the marketplace.”

Spivey confirmed that the shipment is scheduled to arrive as early as the middle of next month (July). Each spreader beam design in the MOD series has been proof load tested in Modulift’s in-house compression test rig and designed in accordance with multiple global industry standards, including Australian Compliance AS 4991 – 2004: Lifting Devices.

She concluded: “Maxirig is already well established in the region and boasts a range of products that complements our own. A vibrant construction sector is just one marketplace that is expected to generate immediate demand for the spreader beams. We’re looking forward to on-boarding our newest partner and are enthused by immediate and long-term prospects.”
