Four members of Modulift's Production and Design Team have recently returned having completed a course in "Inspection of Lifting Equipment Accessories" to Competent Person level.
Sue Caples; Operations Director, Simon Cranny; Production & QA Manager, Anthony Culshaw; Senior Design Engineer and Tom Cox; QA and Production Assistant all concluded a successful training programme which took place on 11th and 12th August 2014.
Training provider, Lloyds British Training, attended Modulift's manufacturing and testing facility in Chard, Somerset to brief the Modulift team with current updates, training, and general knowledge required to adhere to regulatory standards.
The course included both theory and practical exercises and included a variety of lifting accessories including shackles, chain slings, wire rope slings, fibre slings, sling attachments and spreader beams. As part of the practical training a fully assembled Modulift spreader beam was tested in the compression test rig.
Production & QA Manager, Simon Cranny, who was attending the course to renew his existing qualification commented, "In accordance with the requirements of LOLER 98 we are required to carry out thorough examinations of the items that we test on behalf of customers as well as carrying out six monthly thorough examinations of the various slings and shackles that are used on site and it is for this reason that we called upon the expert services of Lloyds British Training to ensure that all those involved in such examinations are trained to do so to a competent level".
Production Assistant Tom Cox said, "The course was both an eye opening and thought provoking experience. It was very beneficial to work with different types of lifting equipment and to learn how to inspect them in a methodical manner. I am looking forward to putting what I have learned in to practice".
